Dr. Samira ElAtia is professor of education and the Associate Dean-Graduate Studies at the bilingual Campus Saint-Jean of the University of Alberta. She specializes in the evaluation of competencies and language assessment. Her research interest focuses on issues of fairness in assessment, especially in bilingual contexts. She has served on experts' panels of several international testing agencies: Educational Testing Services in the US, Pearson Education in the UK, The International Baccalaureate Organization, Chambre du commerce et de l’industrie of Paris, Centre international des études pédagogiques of the Ministry of Education in France. She holds a PhD from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and an MA from Illinois State University. She is past-president of the Canadian Association of Language Assessment.

Dr. Elissa Corsi is an Adjunct Professor in Educational Leadership and School Administration at Campus St Jean, University of Alberta and an Executive Staff Officer for the Alberta Teachers Association. She has taught in public schools in the province of Alberta as well as internationally. Elissa was a school principal and district language coordination for Elk Island Public schools for several years. Her main research interests lie in the area of plurilingualism, language identity and school leadership. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education, after degree from the University of Alberta, a Masters of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Toronto.

I taught in St. Albert, Alberta, from 1989 to 2019. I shared my years of 30 years of teaching between Sir George Simpson Junior High School and Leo Nickerson Elementary School. Lecturer at the Campus Saint-Jean of the University of Alberta since 1994, I have the pleasure of teaching Religious Studies and Educational Philosophy. I completed a Masters degree in Religious and Moral Education at the University of Alberta from 1992 to 1995.

From 2005 to 2007, I accepted a secondment at the Campus St-Jean. During this period, I completed all courses in a PhD program in Educational Philosophy but I never completed my thesis. In addition to courses of Religious Studies, I also taught courses in Philosophy of Education.

Back at Sir George Simpson School since September 2007, I accepted the responsibility of being the School Principal in 2008. I remained in that position until June 2019. In my role as a Principal, I played a very important role in the District's implementation of the Truth and Reconciliation calls to action. I continue to teach at the Campus St-Jean as a full-time Associate Lecturer and, occasionally, at King's University as a part-time sessional lecturer. My research interests are related to Paulo Freire's Pedagogy of the Oppressed and its application in the classroom.

Jean-Christophe Paccoud is the new manager of the Écoles de langues, at Campus Saint-Jean.
After completing a university degree in applied foreign languages and translation at the Université Lumière in France, and becoming a certified English language teacher there, he has enjoyed teaching English and French for more than three decades, both at secondary and post-secondary levels, in Europe, then in Montreal, and finally in Edmonton, as a sessional instructor at Campus Saint-Jean and for the Faculty of Extension. He’s been involved in training and managing French training for Federal government employees as well as the Alberta Provincial Court. He was also a French proficiency assessor for Edmonton Public School Board where over the last ten years, he assessed the language proficiency of hundreds of teachers. Before joining the University of Alberta in his new capacity, he was translating and editing all provincial assessment materials as part of Alberta Education’s Assessment Branch.

Having a first Baccalaureate in Communication and Journalism from the Higher Institute of Information and Communication of Rabat (Morocco), I worked for ten years in this field in several institutions. In 2017, I arrived in Canada and completely changed my vocation by enrolling in the Bachelor of Education program at Campus Saint-Jean-University of Alberta. After graduating with my bachelor's degree in June 2020, I decided to write a new chapter in my university life by starting a Masters in Educational Sciences with a specialization in Leadership and School Administration.
