Objectives - The goal of this project, financed by Ontario School Board Association, is to identify the needs and the challenges faced by teachers, students and the administrators of FSL (French Second Langage) and FI (French Immersion) programs as they relate to French Language Assessment. We are conducting this study to further explore the assessment of French, its impact on recruitment and retention of teachers in these programs, and the relationship with school principals. Based on these initial findings, we aim to provide some practical and informed suggestions about French assessment that would enable leadership teams to support the teachers, the students and their programs of study.

Procedure - This research project is designed to study the evaluation of language competence of teachers in French Immersion schools and programs as well as French as a Second Language programs. We are conducting this study to learn more about the French language assessment needs and its impact on retention and its relationship with school leadership teams. Your participation in this study will provide important insight to quality assurance of FI and FSL assessment of French as in Alberta.
